The former police chief was just sentenced to life in prison last Thursday for the rape of a child, according to Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine.

Larry Casey, 48, was found guilty by a Clinton County jury for the rape of a child under 13, as well as two counts of sexual battery, and one county of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Additionally, he was convicted of one count of failing to register as a sex offender, in a conviction earlier this month.

This occurred back in 2009, while Casey was employed as the Newtonsville police chief, according to DeWine.

He adds that Casey will be eligible for parole in 25 years – as is common with many life sentences. But if he is released at that point, he will continue to have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

“These are unspeakable crimes,” DeWine told reporters. “With the assistance of local law enforcement, we will continue to pursue predators who abuse children.”

Back in 2010, Casey had also been convicted of the sexual abuse of yet another different child.

He was given probation in that case, due to the “Blue Privilege” afforded to police officers in the United States. He was, however, decertified as a police officer and lost his job.
