SUNSET, La. (AP) – A Sunset Reserve Police officer has been arrested and booked with malfeasance. Police Chief Alexcie Guillory Sr. tells The Daily World his department arrested reserve officer Ronald Anthony Duplechain Jr., of Port Barre, Sunday for allegedly tampering with evidence and theft of prescription pills.

Guillory said the incident began Saturday when someone told him that evidence was missing. He assigned Assistant Chief Kevin Pugh to investigate. Pugh said the office’s video surveillance system was able to document Duplechain entering the police department on Friday and removing an evidence bag containing pills that had been seized as part of a traffic stop earlier in the day.

It was unclear whether Duplechain has an attorney.
